The City of Newport’s Residential Parking Program is in effect May 1st through December 1st each year on designated residential streets.
Most residential parking streets require permits between 6 PM and 6 AM, although some streets have daytime or 24-hour restrictions. Always check posted signs for your street’s specific parking rules.
Good news! Residential parking permits are now valid for two seasons (2026–2027).
If you received your 2025 parking permits automatically by mail, you should have received your 2026–2027 permits without needing to reapply.
New residents and renters: If you haven’t received a permit, you can apply online. Renters with leases longer than seven months may qualify for an R2 permit even without a Newport driver’s license and vehicle registration.
Guest Parking Passes: Properties on designated residential parking streets are eligible for one guest pass per dwelling unit, issued to the property owner. Please keep these passes safe, as replacement fees apply.
